Bipartisan Senators Propose AI Workforce Framework Legislation

The bill would direct NIST to create an AI training outline for U.S. companies.

Senators Gary Peters of Michigan and Eric Schmitt of Missouri have introduced legislation that would direct the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to formalize corporate protocol for artificial intelligence training in the United States. The NIST has already created a framework for corporate cybersecurity education, and the senators believe that expanding those principles into AI education will sharpen the global competitiveness of the country’s future AI specialists.

“As artificial intelligence continues to play a bigger role in our society, it’s critical the future of this groundbreaking technology is formed in the United States,” said Senator Peters, who also serves as chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. “The way to ensure that happens is by building a workforce engaged in these new technologies.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Senators Peters and Schmitt as they seek to ensure AI technology guidelines are implemented nationwide.
  • For Director Laurie Locascio as she oversees the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
